Folgaria is within the territory of the Alpe Cimbra, which also includes Lavarone, Luserna, and Vigolana, one of the very best places for bicycle excursions, both for mountain bikes or road racing bikes. The Alpe peaks (at around 1200-1300 m in height) have slopes that can be pedalled and the territory is perfectly maintained.
There is very little traffic on the well kept roads and as soon as you leave the roads the silence is only broken by bird song.
The Alpe still bear the signs of the Great War, the First World War of 1915-18. The mountain bike tracks (also used for cross-country skiing) follow many of the paths constructed (often with dry stone walls) by the Italian and Austro-Hungarian soldiers. There are extremely interesting remains, some in excellent condition, of the Forts, which were stone fortifications used as command points for military operations, outposts, or cover for the troops on the two sides of the conflict. For many years this route has been used to hold a classic mountain bike event: The 100 km of the Forts.

Bike Tracks
The Alpe Cimbra (Folgaria, Lavarone, Lucerna) are loved by all cycling fans. Mountain Bike Routes
Folgaria MTB means The 100 km of the Forts. This competition was born in 1995 with a thrilling route originally genuinely 100 km (later reduced to 90), winding between the many fortifications of the Great War along the route.
Over the years Lavarone has become the present hub of the event and the competition route has changed. Various routes have been developed for riding throughout the year, extremely well marked and to be followed calmly or more boldly, always immersed in the silence of the lush forests of the Trentino Alps.
